Paddle Boating on the Choptank River #crabs #choptank #riverboat #water #river #lunchcruise #Maryland #suicidebridge
I love, love, love being on the water when the weather is sunny and warm. One of my great memories was taking a luncheon cruise on riverboat on the Mississippi River in New Orleans. I felt so free and just savored in all the scenic views. So, you can imagine I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that I could take a paddle boat on a river on the Choptank River in Maryland near Suicide Bridge.
I was glad that the place was not touristy, and everybody seemed to want to relax and have a good time. There were very few cars in the parking lot. However, that changed as it became time for our cruise.
To be honest the boat was not much to look at if you compare it to the Delta Queen in New Orleans. It was more like a tug in comparison. We sailed on boat called the Dorothy and Megan rather than the Choptank River Queen.
It was small and quaint with two small dining areas on two levels. We experienced the 3-hour Crab Feast although there were other cruise selections. The menu was basic consisting of Maryland crab soup, steam crabs, fried chicken, clam strips, corn on the cob, coleslaw, and cheesecake. Water and iced tea were included with a cash bar. I would love to say the food was delicious. However, to be clear, did not eat the little crabs. However, everybody else ate until they could not eat any more. For me the best item was the fresh corn. It was fantastic. I could of ate 5 ears. Everything else was marginal. It was so basic that shocking to me, I really did not take any pictures of the food.
Luck for me, I really did not come for the food. I did note that the restaurant that we embarked from had a great buffet selection. I came to enjoy the ride and the river views. I was not disappointed. It was peaceful and serene. I could of rode all day with the wind gently wrapping around me.
It was good for mind, body, and spirit. I got off the boat a refreshed woman ready to conquer the casino. But that is another story!
