Maryland Seafood Festival Connecticut Lobster Roll #Marylandseafoodfestival#seafood#lobsterroll#connecticutlobsterroll

As a person born and raised on Long Island Sound in New England, I love seafood.  I always bragged that New England has the best seafood.  However, when I moved to DC, my friends told me that nothing was better than the Maryland Blue Crab.  I tried them.  I thought they were tasty but too small and too labor intensive.  But, the Maryland Blue she crab soup and the lump crab cakes are
heavenly delicious.

With that in mind, I was intrigued when my friend invited me to attend the Maryland Seafood Festival.  I was anxious to savor all the different she crab soups and crab cakes.

The festival did not disappoint me.  They had a entire tent dedicated to tasting she crab soup and stands and stands selling all different variety of crab cakes.

However, before I could make a decision on which crab stand I should choose. I saw this sign and frozen.

Yes, I was in Maryland.  But could I resist New England lobster rolls?  And they had two types - the Maine:  a cold lobster salad with mayo on a roll and the Connecticut: warm lobster sautéed in butter on a butter roll.  I was surprised that the line for the lobster rolls were longer than the crab cakes

We waited over 20 minutes to be served.  My friend, who never had a lobster roll although she was raised in New Jersey, ordered one Connecticut lobster roll.  I ordered two Connecticut lobster rolls - one to eat immediately and the other to take home.  In fact, most of the people standing in line ordered the Connecticut lobster rolls.  Personally, I believe that the Connecticut lobster roll is the best.  But, I am bias.  I was raised in Connecticut.

The Connecticut lobster roll was good but not great.  Both the lobster and the roll lacked enough butter to offer that buttery goodness that leaves your fingers oozing with butter.  It took the second one home and prepared correctly.

I also purchased oysters and shrimp.  But the star of my day at the Maryland Seafood festival was the New England lobster roll with all the memories of home.  After all, I am in the Maryland area.  I can get Maryland she crab soup and crab cakes anytime.
