Breakfast for Lunch #breakfast #lunch
I am not afraid to say that breakfast food are my favorite. I was very happy when McDonald's decided to offer the breakfast items all day long. Obviously, there our others just like me.

When I asked myself why I liked breakfast food items, I discovered that I find pleasure in simple meals. Breakfast meals are the purist of all meals. A true breakfast meal has simple ingredients - eggs, meat, potatoes/grits, fruit, and bread/pancakes/waffles. Although some restaurants try to enhance this simple meal with complex and unusual ingredients, I still like it simple.
After having my morning coffee and a fruit smoothie, I head out to my breakfast spot before they stop serving breakfast (they don't know about the all day breakfast). My go to favorite place is a carryout in a strip mall near Catholic University that I pass on my way to work. They prepare simple, uncomplicated, breakfast platters and with little add fat and unnatural ingredients. I order my meal around 10:30am or 11:00 am and save it for lunch. It is simply two scrambled eggs, four pieces of bacon, home fries with lots of onions, and two pieces of wheat toast lightly buttered. It is delicious, filling and cheaper than a lunch item of the same caliber. The whole meal cost me about $6.50.
Although I am not a nutrition guru, but I believe overall this is a good balance meal especially if you add a piece of fruit. I, however, never do. I eat this at my desk around 2:00PM. My co-workers just look at me in envy. This meal is so filling that I am full until dinner.
I am not a firm advocate of all breakfast items for lunch! I would never have heavy items like waffle or pancakes. I find those items are too heavy and filled with calories. My simple breakfast item works for me at least once per week. It gives me just the right amount of energy to perform at my best at work.
I just say, give breakfast for lunch at try at least weekly and see if it works for you. You may have to experiment to find your go to breakfast item. Just don't knock it until you try it. Breakfast foods can be anytime. McDonald's got it right!
