Lobster Day in Washington, DC #lobster #friens #menuplanning
Twice a year my 3 friends and I get together for a lobsterfest. We have lobsters overnighted from Maine for lobster day from www.lobsterday,com. We plan our menu around the lobster. Our menu for our October lobsterfest, in addition to lobster, consisted of: clams, scallops, shrimp, garden salad, devilled eggs, corn on the cob, cupcakes, assorted beverages. . We all pitched in to provide the additional items. I was in charge of the corn on the cob, cupcakes, and wine. I was a little concerned about the corn since it is out of season. Fortunately, it was fresh and great.
With lobster utensils laid out, piles of napkins, plenty of melted butter, mellow music playing, and wine glasses full, we all dug in. I personally started with the shrimp, devilled eggs, and salad. Although I am a New Englander, I am not fond of clams or scallops. The others dipped their clams and scalloped in butter and threw down.
The lobster was sweet and delicious. It was actually better than the one I had in April. I wish I ordered more than 2 lobsters. In fact, the food was so good, you just had to dance!. There is nothing like enjoying good food especially...lobster with good friends. I am glad that I ordered an extra lobster to freeze for later. I can not wait until lobster day next year.
