Anybody that knows me, knows I love, love French food.   If there is a French inspired restaurant anywhere especially in DC, I am a patron.  So when my meet-up group, The Lazy Brunchers choose Convivial. I jumped at the chance.  It is an American Cafe with a French Flair.  I was so excited.  I checked the many several times before the event changing my selections each time.  

When the day arrived, I put my mask on my face and headed to the metro.  I could not wait to see all the folks I have not seen in a year.  I arrived at the restaurant right on time.  It was wonderful seeing all my friends after a year, even if it was only 10 people. We all were glad, however, to eat outside. 

After checking the menu using the Q scan, I ordered my carafe of  champagne, quiche, and happily split croissants and cinnamon rolls.

The quiche was delicious and the salad massive.  Did you notice that the quiche looks like a ruler.  I was surprised.  I have never been to a restaurant, less a lone a French restaurant, an seen quiche look like this or had so much more salad than food  Needless to say, I left most of the salad behind.  I did eat all the skinny quiche.  

My peers ordered a variety of others items which they all said was delicious.

I never leave a French restaurant without dessert.  I was hoping for creme brulee.  But to my sadness, it was not on the menu.  I settled for a custard cream.

It was well present and tasted OK.  However, it would NEVER stand up to Creme Brulee!

I loved the experience of eating outside in the warm air after months of lock down and spending time with my awesome Lazy Brunch group.  However, when it come to French food, DC has far too many great restaurants to come back here again.
