Seafood in the French Quarter #Felix's #Oysters #NewOrleans #BourbonStreet

The French Quarter in New Orleans is a great place at night.  But during the day, it is a great place for delicious food and affordable food for lunch.  Since I am a seafood lover and so were my friends, we check out Felix's.  Although the group wanted more Creole inspired dishes, I simply wanted shrimps and oysters.

The place was really packed at lunch time.  And, they would not let us bring our 'favorite" large beverages from down the street into the place.  Thanks to large bags, we were able to hide those drinks for later.  As I was standing outside the aroma of  the cooked and the lively music increased my anticipation.  Fortunately, we were seated after a short wait.  The restaurant is actually larger than it looks.

It took very little time for me to find my dish......a friend shrimp and oyster platter served with fries, hush puppies, and coleslaw.   My friends took a while to digest the vast meal.  They finally decided on a variety of items that included:  a fried fish platter, a shrimp Po'boy, Cajun alligator, and shrimp gumbo.
Everyone of us loved our meal especially me.  The shrimps were large and tender and the oyster fried perfectly for me (I asked to have them a little hard and crispy).

I would love to say I made a clean plate.  But I did not.  I came for the shrimps and oysters not the other things on the platter.  So, in keeping with my taste buds, I ate all the shrimps and the oysters and a few fries.   I left behind the hush puppies and coleslaw.  It wasn't hard to leave them behind because I did not think either of them was great.

There is nothing like the French Quarter in New Orleans especially Bourbon Street!   I suggest don't just be a night crawler for the bars and music, check out the food especially for lunch.  In most places you will get the same food as dinner but at a cheaper price.
