A Philly Steak and Cheese Hoagie Delivery in DC

I once had a friend who traveled from West Haven, CT to Philadelphia, PA to get an original Philly steak and cheese hoagie.   I thought that was a little different;  but who am I.  A road trip is always fun.  Fortunately for my Philly steak and cheese hoagie, I did not have to travel so far.  It came to me.  Yes, I had an original steak and cheese hoagie delivered to me in Washington, DC.  But before everybody ask me for the number, let me explain.

My friend Ms. M is from Philadelphia, PA and travels there at least once a month.   She works with me and is my favorite lunch time companion.  She knows I love the original steak and cheese hoagie.  She know just how I like it and where to get it.  She returned from a trip to see her mother with a steak and cheese hoagie just from me.

I unwrapped  the foil from the foot long hoagie very carefully.  It was loaded with real steak, provolone cheese, onions, mushrooms, and peppers.  Since the hoagie had to travel, Ms. M ensured that I had plastic containers filled with lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, and hot peppers.  I warmed my hoagie in the office's toaster oven. It taste better warmed in a toaster oven rather than a microwave oven.   Once warmed, I covered my sandwich with all the ingredients from the plastic containers.  It's best when a hoagie or any sandwich has to travel to have the toppings separate to keep from getting the sandwich soggy.

I must say that my hoagie was delicious.  I licked my fingers in order to savor the very last juice of the steak and the crumbs of the bread for which I feel no shame.   I was grateful that I did not have to travel to Philly for my hoagie.  However, it was so memorable and as my mother would say "moreish" I wanted to travel to Philly for another one.  However, again, I would not have to take that trek.  My friend, Ms. M, vowed to travel to Philly the following weekend and return with two more hoagies for me. Now that is real delivery!
