Bananas Foster for Lunch In New Orleans
Anybody who knows me knows that New Orleans in my favorite city. I try to go every year and I have been more than several times. I love trying the different foods but had never had Bananas Foster. This year was a big year for me. We decided to celebrate my older sister's birthday in the Big Easy. My daughter and I flew in from Washington, DC while my sister and my best friend Debbie flew in from Connecticut. We all had favorite foods we wanted to eat. My best friend wanted Bananas Foster.
In anticipation of our trip, we spent weeks researching places for our favorite foods. Debbie chose Brennan's on Royal Street in the French Quarters for the Bananas Foster. Lunch seem like a good bet since it would be less crowded. I was excited because I had never been to Brennan's Restaurant. And, it was close to where we were staying.
We walked in around 2PM and the place was mostly empty except a few people at the bar. We ordered the Bananas Foster (something the place is known for) and waited for the show. We were not disappointed. The waiter came out with not only the dessert preparation but a story of the history of Banana Foster.
We were mesmerized by the show. We had to take pictures before diving in to taste the favorite dessert. Others watching our show ordered there own show featuring Bananas Foster.
I want to say the lunch was delicious. Although I enjoyed the ambience and the show, I did not like the Bananas Foster. There is just something wrong with hot bananas! My sister and Debbie loved it. They practically licked the plate. I learned that although dessert for lunch is great it may not be, if I order Bananas Foster. I prefer an oyster Po'boy!
