Brunch on the Edge
One of my favorite places to visit while in Connecticut on vacation is Waters Edge Resort. I have been going there for years; and it never disappoints me. I especially love the Sunday brunch. The water view is breathtaking and the food assortment divine.
I arrived Sunday morning at my reservation time of 12:30PM. It was not too crowded so I was able to get a window seat with a clear water view. I ordered my mimosa and hit the buffet. I started with lox, a multiple grain bagel covered with cream cheese, red onions and capers. I finished that off in recorded time with my mimosa. I ordered another mimosa and hit the buffet again. I filled my plate with an everything omelet - ham, onions, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and cheese (I wish they had spinach), a Belgian waffle, bacon, and sausages. I have to admit I was getting full. But I managed to finish most of the food on the plate.
I wasn't finish. I had not tried the lunch items. I ordered another mimosa and headed to the lunch assortment. I skipped the long line for fresh made pastas dishes. I selected, instead, to have the roast beef, potatoes, fresh fruit, salad, and a croissant. I ate slowly. I was as full as a tick. I couldn't eat anymore. I wanted more everything smelled and looked so good. Sorry to say, I had to forgo the wide assortment of meats, vegetable and sadly the dessert bar. I didn't have to eat any more for the rest of the day.
I really enjoyed the brunch. The food was fresh and the service was excellent. I had my favorite waiter who has been there for years. However, for my experience, I thought the price was a little high for not offering complimentary champagne and/or mimosas. I guess that is the price you have to pay for brunch on the edge of Long Island Sound. Still they should consider offering complimentary champagne and mimosas!
